4/11/2007 11:01:13 AM -- Namaste from Kathmandu
We arrived in Nepal on March 30 and we have been busy preparing for the SuperSherpas Expedition, visiting with family and friends and preparing our team. We talked to media in Hong Kong and on our arrival in Nepal. Lhakpa was very pleased to see his three children, who have been in school and he has not seen in a year.
We have been meeting and visiting government officials and other political and social leaders to let them hear our objectives and aims of the expedition. We met the newly-appointed Tourism Minister of Interim Government and Secretary for Tourism Ministry. We have also visited the Ministrial Council of Nepal to brief them of the expedition. It is important to have a good relationship between the expedition team and government authority in order to get further governmental support in exemption of climbing permit fee and further technical and administrative support. We met with Tourism Ministry Mr. Prithvi Subba Gurung at his residence on April 7 to brief him. He said he was very happy hearing such a great mission with wonderful objectives with the view to support Nepalese climbers and the country in totality. He wished us luck on our historical expedition.
We will be holding an organized press meeting April 17 for local and international media and news channels.
