Base Camp Blog
5/4/2007 1:27:55 PM -- From the Contact Everest file:
Here's Niran from Finland. I've been following the SuperSherpas expedition for a while now and its been very exciting. Can't wait to read the latest news and take a peak at the new pics from the trek.
By the way, is Apa and Lhakpa making a straight ascent?
Best wishes to the SuperSherpa team members.
Niran Malakar, Finland
Wow. Finland!
Greetings Niran. Thanks for the well wishes. Apa and Lhakpa are taking the normal route to the summit. The plan is to acclimatize at Camp 2 for one night and then go to Camp 4 for a short rest before heading for the summit. We do not have a target date for the summit at this point. They are not going for a speed record. Our only goal is for them to be safe and to accomplish the all-Sherpa expedition to the top.

May 4
Lhakpa took his younger brother to Camp 2 today to get it set up. It is great to see these brothers climbing together. You know, the big brother looking out for little bro.
The weather is very bad and snowing and it looks like we will continue to have some snow and very cold weather for the next few days. Dr. Scott McIntosh went to Camp 1 with Mingma Sherpa, Lhakpa's brother-in-law, to acclimate. The support Sherpas went to Camp 2 to finish setting up. Apa will wait to see if the weather is good or bad to go up to Camp 2 tomorrow.
