5/17/2007 8:54:56 AM -- FINALLY AT BASE CAMP!
Apa and Lhakpa and most of the team have made it through the dangerous Khumbu Ice Fall for the last time this season after helping retrieve the bodies of two climbers killed when their tent was hit by an avalanche. Pemba and Mingma, along with Dr. Scott McIntosh, are now in Camp 2.

5/17/2007 7:42:29 AM -- STILL ON THE MOUNTAIN
Apa and Lhakpa were on their way down to base camp from Camp 2 when they were asked to help in a double-body recovery. Two team members of a Korean team had died as they slept in their tent. They were either blown off or an avalanche sent them off the South West face. We are not sure on the facts of the fall.
At 5:10 p.m. (5:25 a.m. MST), Apa and Lhakpa were half way through the Khumbu Ice Fall. Even after their extreme ascent and dangerous decent, they still have the heart to stop and assist in a humanitarian effort. There are very few people around to assist. We will wait with anticipation for their safe return and we will let everyone know when they are safely in base camp.
